Course Description
Although many practitioners learn these skills by trial and error over many years, it makes good sense to learn these skills and techniques prior to start-up. Professional practice management prepares the graduating student to combine their knowledge of their modality with proven business guidelines to form a practical approach growing a successful and fulfilling practice. We begin with issues of personal and professional purpose, and progress toward the day-to-day operation of a prosperous healthcare practice. Areas we will cover include: how to set up a practice, legal setup of your business, patient care, front office procedures, marketing and advertising, time management, business operations, working with insurance, building relationships with other practitioners, accounting and financial planning. Students should bring specific questions, since it is not possible to cover every aspect of these subjects in one course. Students will emerge from this course more eager and less afraid of the often-daunting prospect of starting a practice. And you will know what specific steps to take, starting a few months before graduation, and through the first few years of practice. Course Outline A. GETTING STARTED
B. BUSINESS OPERATIONS C. MARKETING D. PATIENT CARE |
