Course Description
This course covers the essentials of safe, ethical and fulfilling clinical
practice. The course begins by emphasizing the importance of self-development
and self-awareness for the practitioner, and practical tools for growth
and self-exploration. It continues with an orientation to the profession,
its laws, regulations and organizations. Topics that follow come from
the areas of medical ethics and health psychology. Major themes include
how to cultivating a healing or therapeutic relationship, participating
in one's profession, and continuously developing one's character and integrity.
Students leave the course with a clearer sense of how to live their student,
professional and personal lives with greater depth, awareness and character.
